1. What is Video & Audio Downloader?

Video & Audio Downloader is a multi-browser addon to enhance the process of downloading media from internet. Simply browse to a website with online media stream. Once the media (video or audio) is being played, the addon automatically detects the media and renders it in a list in toolbar popup. Within the popup, you can choose and download media items easily. Moreover, there is also a button to copy download links to the clipboard. In this addon, you can download all media items at once as a - zip - file. Please note that, this addon only shows media items for the active tab (current tab). Once you switch tabs, the list in the popup will be changed. There is also a button at top toolbar to clear media list.

2. How can I work with this addon?

As mentioned above, simply browse to a website with media items (video or audio streams). Once you click on an item to play, the addon automatically detects the media and adds it to the toolbar popup list. Badge icon text shows you the number of captured items. Each media item has a download button. Once you click on this button, the media file will be downloaded to the default download location in your machine. A desktop notification will also notifies you about the downloaded item. In toolbar popup, video and audio items are separated in two different sections. Top section is for video and bottom section is for audio files. Each section has a - download all - button which can be used to download all media files at once. Once you click on the download all button, a confirmation box will show up to ask you about this operation. Please note that downloading all media items may take up some time depending on your download speed.

3. How can I download the source code for Video & Audio Downloader?

To download the source code for this extension from Chrome Web Store, it is recommended to use Extension Source Downloader. With this addon, you can download the source code as a ZIP or CRX format to your machine. If you want to download the source code from the Firefox addons store, please open the firefox download link (if available) in the Firefox browser and then right-click on the - Add to Firefox - button and select - Save Link As... - item. Choose the destination folder on your machine and then save the file in XPI format. You can then rename the XPI format to a RAR or ZIP file. Some extensions may have a GitHub repo address, which you can use to download the source code as well. But, it may not be the latest version of the addon. Therefore, downloading the source code from the official web stores is the best option as it always gives you the latest version of the addon.

4. How can I disable this addon?

In order to temporarily disable this addon, please open toolbar popup UI and click on the - disable addon - button at the top left corner. Toolbar icon will change to light grey and the media list will be cleared. The addon will no longer detect media files in a disabled state. Clicking on the disable button again, enables the addon and toolbar icon will turn to dark grey and blue combination. If you want to permanently disable the addon, please head to extensions tab in your browser and click on the disable button next to the extensions name.

5. How can I delete an item from toolbar popup UI?

In order to delete an item, simply open the toolbar popup and click on the cross sign next to each item. You can also clear the whole list by clicking on the - Clear media list - button at the top section.

6. Is this addon compatible with all versions of Firefox.

This addon is compatible with Firefox versions 29.0 and above.

7. Does this addon has any settings or options page?

No, this addon does not have any settings or options to adjust. All the required settings are available in toolbar popup UI.

8. Can I change the minimum file size (media file size to capture) in this addon?

No, unfortunately currently there is no option to adjust the minimum file size. The size is set to 100KB by default. Items with file size less than this amount will be ignored by default.

9. How can I change the download location?

In order to change the default download location, please open settings page in your browser and then change the default download location from there. There is no option to change this location within the addon.

10. What media file formats are detected by this addon?

Over 40 media file formats are detected by this addon. For example, .mp3, .mp4, .wav, .mpeg and etc. As mentioned above, you need to play an audio or video file to let the addon captures the stream, otherwise it will not capture any media file.

11. Can I download all audio or video files at once?

Yes, you can download all media files at once as a zip file. Simply click on the - download all - button. Please note that this operation may take up some time depending on your internet speed. A desktop notification will show you the current state in downloading media files.
