Badge Checker for Gmail™ is a lite and multi-browser addon that help you quickly get badge notification for all unread emails in your Gmail inbox. This addon supports multi-account, in other words, if you are logged in to more than one gmail account, all unread emails in all your accounts are summed up and shown in the badge icon. Moreover, badge icon title shows the detailed description about badge number (badge number break down). There is also an options page where you can adjust few settings including total number of gmail accounts that you have; time interval to check gmail account and your default gmail account to open when clicking on the toolbar icon.
2. How can I work with Checker for Gmail™ addon?
In order to work with Checker for Gmail™, please first login to one of your gmail accounts, next, wait for few seconds until the addon fetches all your unread emails in your inbox. Badge icon text will be updated based on your unread email count. Please note that, you can log in to more than one gmail account and the badge icon text will be updated according to all your unread emails in all Gmail accounts. Default time interval to check unread emails is 10 minutes. In order to change this value please visit addon options page and adjust this number accordingly. If you want to open your gmail inbox, please click on the toolbar icon once. Your first gmail inbox will be opened in a new tab. If you prefer a different account, please open options page and change the default gmail account number.

To download the source code for this extension from Chrome Web Store, it is recommended to use Extension Source Downloader. With this addon, you can download the source code as a ZIP or CRX format to your machine. If you want to download the source code from the Firefox addons store, please open the firefox download link (if available) in the Firefox browser and then right-click on the - Add to Firefox - button and select - Save Link As... - item. Adjust this number to a desired value that you want and it will be saved to the memory automatically. Next option is the total number of logged-in accounts. By default this addon monitors 10 logged-in gmail accounts for unread emails (unread emails in inbox folder). You can decrease or increase this to a desired value. The last option is the preferred gmail account to open when you click on the toolbar icon. By default, your first logged-in account is the preferred inbox. If you want a different account as the preferred one, please change this number accordingly. Please note that the minimum value is 1.
5. What does badge title says in this addon?
Badge title will show you a detailed break-down for total number of unread emails. For each account you will see the related email address and unread count for emails in inbox folder.
6. Can I add labels for this addon?
No, unfortunately labels are not supported for Badge Checker for Gmail™ addon. Currently, only Gmail inbox is monitored for unread emails. In future support for labels will be added.
7. Can I get notification sound when I get a new emails?
No, this addon does not have notification sound for unread or new emails. The only available notification is for badge text.
8. What happens if I am not logged in to any of my Gmail accounts?
If you are not logged in to your gmail account, the badge text will show (!) mark and badge title will be updated accordingly. Please note that, once you log-in to your gmail account badge text and title will be updated.
