Frequently Asked Questions

  • 1. What is HTML Elements Screenshot?

HTML Elements Screenshot is a multi-browser add-on that enables you to capture a full or partial screenshot from any webpage. Simply click on the toolbar icon to activate the addon. Then select any desired element with mouse left-click. Please note that, as you move your mouse, elements are highlighted with green color. Once you select an element, a popup window will appear that contains a loader image. Once the screenshot operation is done, the loader will be replaced with the screenshot. Now you can download the image to your machine by clicking on the download button. If you want to close the popup window, please click on the close button on top right corner in the popup window. Please note that, by default, the extension does not include cross-domain images in the screenshot, if you want to enable this feature, please visit options page and click on the - cors - option. You can also adjust the screenshot resolution. By default it is set to 2, meaning the screenshot image is two times bigger than the original element.

  • 2. How can I work with this addon?

As mentioned above, once the addon is added to your browser, please click on the toolbar button once. Toolbar icon will turn to red color and HTML elements are highlighted with green color as you hover on them. Now, simply choose the desired element with mouse left click. The addon will try to generate the screenshot in the background. In the meantime, a loader image will show up on the screen. Once the screenshot is generated, it will be replaced by the loader image. Now, you can download the image by clicking on the download button at the top right corner in the screen. In order to close the popup, please click on the cross sign next to the download button. Please note that, once you click the popup, the addon will be disabled. So, you need to click on the toolbar button in order to take a screenshot. If you want to take multiple screenshots without clicking on the toolbar button each time, please do NOT click on the close button in, instead, click anywhere outside of the screenshot in order to close the popup. This way, the addon remains active, and you can take another screenshot right away.

  • 3. How can I download the source code for HTML Elements Screenshot?

To download the source code for this extension from Chrome Web Store, it is recommended to use Extension Source Downloader. With this addon, you can download the source code as a ZIP or CRX format to your machine. If you want to download the source code from the Firefox addons store, please open the firefox download link (if available) in the Firefox browser and then right-click on the - Add to Firefox - button and select - Save Link As... - item. Choose the destination folder on your machine and then save the file in XPI format. You can then rename the XPI format to a RAR or ZIP file. Some extensions may have a GitHub repo address, which you can use to download the source code as well. But, it may not be the latest version of the addon. Therefore, downloading the source code from the official web stores is the best option as it always gives you the latest version of the addon.

  • 4. Is there any shortcut key to capture the screenshot instead of the toolbar button?
