1. What is Magnifying Glass?

Magnifying Glass is a lite and multi-browser addon that enables you to magnify a portion of any webpage with click of a button. Simply click on the toolbar button once to see the magnifying glass. Then move your mouse to see the magnified page within a circular glass. If you want to hide the magnifier, simply click on the toolbar icon once or click anywhere in the page. This addon has also an options page to adjust magnifier zoom level and coverage area. Moreover, toolbar button serves as an ON|OFF switch to turn the addon ON or OFF.

2. How can I work with Magnifying Glass?

When this addon is added to your browser, please click on the toolbar icon once to see the magnifier glass. If you move your mouse within the page, you will see the magnified section in a circular glass. Now, if you want to hide the magnifier, either click on the toolbar icon or press on the - Esc - button on your keyboard. Moreover, clicking anywhere in the page will also hide the magnifier.

3. How can I download the source code for Magnifying Glass?

To download the source code for this extension from Chrome Web Store, it is recommended to use Extension Source Downloader. With this addon, you can download the source code as a ZIP or CRX format to your machine. If you want to download the source code from the Firefox addons store, please open the firefox download link (if available) in the Firefox browser and then right-click on the - Add to Firefox - button and select - Save Link As... - item. Choose the destination folder on your machine and then save the file in XPI format. You can then rename the XPI format to a RAR or ZIP file. Some extensions may have a GitHub repo address, which you can use to download the source code as well. But, it may not be the latest version of the addon. Therefore, downloading the source code from the official web stores is the best option as it always gives you the latest version of the addon.

4. How can I turn the addon ON or OFF?

Once the addon is added to your browser, it is inactive by default. In active mode, toolbar button is red. Please press on the toolbar icon once to activate the addon. As mentioned above, pressing Esc button will also inactivates the addon.

5. What settings are available within the options page?

You can change the zoom level and magnifiers coverage area from the options page. Please note that, default value for magnifier capture area (circular glass) is (150 X 150) pixels. Zoom level is also set to (2X) by default. Once you increase this value, the magnifier glass will also be resized to match the zoom level.

6. Is this addon available for mobile browsers?

Yes, this addon is available for both mobile and desktop machines on all operating systems.

7. Does this addon magnifies video contents in websites?

No, unfortunately this addon is only suitable for static contents. For dynamic contents (such as movies and Flash video) it just magnifies one screenshot of the movie or Flash video. Please note that, pressing on the toolbar icon will update the zoom image.

8. Does this addon support keyboard shortcuts?

Yes, this addon supports keyboard shortcuts. Please use (Alt + Shift + Z) as the shortcut to activate the addon. If you have Google Chrome browser, you can change this keyboard shortcut combination from the extensions page in your browser.

9. Can I zoom the whole page instead of the magnifier circle?

No, this addon does not support full page zoom. It is only working as the magnifier glass. Only a circular section within a page will be magnified as you move your mouse. For a complete page zoom, please use native functions available in your browser.

10. What happens if I scroll a page?

Once you scroll a page, Magnifier Glass will be updated instantly. So, you can easily scroll and use the Magnifier Glass without any problems. The only thing that is not compatible with this addon is dynamic contents (i.e. movies) in page.
