Page Summarizer Using AI is a multi-browser add-on to help users make a summary from any website by using an AI-powered engine. Currently, the summary is only generated from the text content. In the future other page contents such as images, audio, and video may be used to generate the summary. This extension uses the new OpenAI engine to generate the results. Therefore, please make sure to have an API key before using the addon. Please read below FAQ items to get more info about how to obtain the API key. The result for the page summary is rendered in the sidebar. Once you press the toolbar button, the sidebar opens and starts to summarize the active tab (displaying a loader). Please wait for the operation to complete; once the result is ready it will be rendered in the sidebar.
2. How can I work with this addon?
Once you install the addon, please open the options and add your API key. This addon needs an API key from OpenAI to be able to operate. You can obtain a free API key by visiting the OpenAI website. The free API has some initial credits and works for a limited time. There is also an option to buy a paid API which is a pay-as-you-go option. Either way, once you have the API key please add it to the options page (top section) and start using the addon. On any website with text content, please press the toolbar button to open the sidebar. The extension captures the active tab text content and starts to generate the summary by using the OpenAI API. Once the summary is ready, it will be rendered in the sidebar. Please note that, currently only the text content from websites is used to generate the summary. Therefore, images and other media content are not used. Moreover, only the first 60K characters of the text content are fed to the API engine to generate the summary. This is due to the limitations of the API and the amount of data that can be fed to the engine. If you want to change the font size or color of the sidebar results please visit the options page.
