1. What is PNG Optimizer?
PNG Optimizer is a browser add-on that helps you optimize PNG images. It also reduces the file size depending on the optimization level. Simply drag and drop PNG file(s) to a designated area in the app UI and then wait for few seconds for the optimization process to finish up. You can select an optimization engine from the drop-down list. There are five optimization engines available to choose from. All the info about the optimization process is being displayed in the console area within the app UI. Once the optimization process is done, please click on the download icon next to each optimized image item to download the optimized file. Please note that download location is the default location in your browser.
2. How can I work with this add-on?
To work with this addon, as mentioned above, just drag and drop a PNG file or multiple files in the - file I/O box - within the app UI (top section). Then, wait for few seconds for the optimization process and finally download your optimized file from the bottom result section. Once an optimization process is finished, you can start a new one. Moreover, you can terminate an optimization process by pressing on the reload button at the top right corner in the app UI. It is important to note that, this add-on can reduce the file size for PNG images for up to 50%, but this number may vary for each image depending on its internal structure. There are five optimization engines embedded in the app. The first and last engines can optimize JPEG & PNG files and the rest can optimize PNG files only. Please note that depending on the optimization engine you choose, the result will be different in terms of quality and final size. Therefore, please select the one that best matches your need.

4. How do I turn the extension OFF?
When app UI is closed, this addon is completely OFF and has no usage (RAM/CPU) on your system at all. Alternatively, if you want to completely turn off the addon, please head to the extensions tab in your browser and then click on the disable button from there.
5. Is this extension available for mobile firefox (Firefox for android)?
Yes, this addon is available for all browsers and platforms including mobile Firefox and Opera browsers.
6. How can I reload the app UI?
When you open the app UI, you will see a reload button on the top left corner. Please press on this button to reload the UI. Also note that, reloading the UI will terminate all active operations and reset the optimization process.
7. How can I download the optimized image?
As mentioned above, once the optimization process is done, the optimized image will be rendered in the top right rectangular area. Simply click on the - download button - in order to download the optimized image. Please note that, the image will be downloaded to the default download location in your machine.
8. How can I change the download location for the optimized image?
To change the download location, please head to the settings tab in your browser and then find the download section. Within this section, you can adjust the download path. This will globally change the download location for all you downloads in your browser.
9. Can I also optimize other formats for image files (i.e. jpeg)?
No, unfortunately this addon is only designed for PNG file formats. In future, support for other file formats will be added.
