Overview
Web based information knows no bounds. From countless file formats to multiple languages, data is available from all kinds of sources in every corner of the world. Google has taken the lead when it comes to addressing the challenges of translation, and work has been completed to offer one click translation between more than 50 major languages. Google worked with linguistic experts to design a translation product that included allowances for accommodating the grammatical and contextual nuances of each language in to a common base. The result is Google Translate, a tool relied upon by thousands of users around the world each day. From translating news in a small village in China, to deciphering foreign texts at major universities in the US - Google Translate is growing in popularity each day.
An unofficial extension of Google Translate is Google Translator Lite; a powerful tool that can translate anything from a few words to whole paragraphs in supported languages. Unlike Google Translate, Google Translator Lite is built as a handy popup tool that can be used on top of your web browser without having to switch between different tabs or other windows. Google Translator Lite is available in the Extensions section of Add-Ons for Mozilla Firefox and Opera browsers. Once downloaded, it can be activated within the same session, without having to restart Firefox. You will see the Google Translator Lite icon in your Firefox toolbar once it is installed and available for use. In sharp contrast to other Lite extensions, Google Translator Lite successfully managed to keep its product one class apart. This product includes all of the useful features available in Google Translate; the only think that makes it Lite is the fact that it is available in a toolbar popup. Here are some of the powerful features that make Google Translator Lite a useful extension include; (a) The ability to see the entire Google Translate mobile website in a toolbar-popup, within your existing Firefox or Opera tab without having to switch away from your work. (b) Complete unrestricted access to all Google Translate features in popup mode, including, (a) Auto-detect the input language for the text you wish to translate. (2) Get instant translation while typing a word or sentence without having to wait. (3) Auto spell-check to make sure your work stays error free. (4) Support for 81 different languages with resulting translations available in easy to copy text form and (5) Easy access to history and starred items of your choice to save time. (6) Fully customizable user interface popup, with choices available on the Options page. When a product that integrates powerful features of a complete Google service comes up, it is expected that it will get a bunch of positive reviews. After all, Google does its research before releasing a final product, and includes a complete assessment and understanding of major user needs. Reviews for Google Translator Lite remain positive as well, with a ranking of 4 stars out of 5. Users enjoy the ability to fill the text box for translation with selected text from a page, and the fact the text-box is auto-selected when the popup is opened.
