1. What is Video Speed Control?
Video Speed Control let you easily control the playback speed for all HTML5 video elements. In order to work with this addon, please open a webpage that contains HTML5 video elements. Then, play a desired video element and open toolbar popup UI. Within the UI, adjust the playback speed and then click on the - green - check mark button. The playback speed will be changed according to the value shown in the popup. Please note that, this addon does NOT change the speed automatically. You need to open toolbar popup UI and press on the green check mark button each time (needs user-action). Moreover, every time a page is reloaded, the addon need a user-action again. The minimum playback speed is 0.07x and maximum speed is 16x. The min and max values are according to the HTML5 standards.
2. How can I work with this addon?
As mentioned above, working with this addon is very easy. Simply play a video (only HTML5 video) and then open toolbar popup UI and click on the green checkmark button. You can change the playback speed from 0.07x to 16x. Once the speed is set, you can move the slider to change the playback speed as you watch the video. As mentioned above, this addon works based on the user-action. In other words, it does not change the playback speed automatically. You need to press on the green check mark button in toolbar popup in order to activate the addon. Moreover, every time a page is reloaded, the addon needs user-action again. There is a default button at the top toolbar which enables you to reset the playback speed to 1x.
3. Does this addon work for Flash video elements?
No, this addon only works for HTML5 video elements. In order to change the playback speed for Flash elements, a separate addon/plugin is need.
4. Does this addon have any options or settings to adjust?
There is not a separate options or settings page for this addon. Everything needed, is placed in toolbar popup UI.
5. Can I set the min and max speed beyond the values mentioned above?
No, unfortunately HTML5 only supports the playback speed from 0.07x to 16x. Any values beyond these numbers will be ignored. Please note that in future, if support for different speeds added to the HTML5 video element, this addon will be updated accordingly.
6. Can I change the video speed when I open a tab automatically?
No, as mentioned above, this addon does NOT work automatically when you open a tab. You need to press on the green check mark in toolbar popup (needs user-action).
7. Does this addon works for YouTube website or embedded YouTube videos in other websites?
Yes, this addon works for all HTML5 video elements, including YouTube and all embedded videos.
8. How about video elements in iframes?
Unfortunately, when video elements are placed and load in frames, this addon cannot control the playback speed. This, however, is not valid for youtube videos. Therefore, for this addon to work properly, all the video elements need to be placed in the top level (not frames) within a webpage.
